Biography

Pedro Carvalho is an Associate Professor in Environmental Chemistry at Aarhus University. His research focuses on environmental chemistry, water quality, and the management of water technology. He is particularly interested in the characterization of pollutants in water-related matrices and the development of innovative water treatment technologies, including nature-based solutions and bioelectrochemical systems. He has collaborated with over 20 international partners on various national and European projects and serves as a co-chair for the International Water Association Specialist Group on Wetland Systems in Water Pollution Control. He coordinates the Marie Curie Staff Exchange Project NEUTRAL4GS and is active in COST Actions related to bioremediation and water quality. Carvalho obtained his PhD from the University of Porto, where he studied removal methodologies for veterinary pharmaceutical residues from wastewater treatment plants. He has a significant publication record and is involved in multiple projects addressing environmental challenges in water management.
