Biography

Pedro Miguel Geraldes is a Professor at the University of Sherbrooke in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Quebec at Montreal followed by a Master's and PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Montreal. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School and the Joslin Diabetes Center, focusing on vascular biology. His research interests are primarily focused on diabetes-related vascular complications, including diabetic kidney disease, peripheral artery disease, and impaired wound healing. He has led and directed several significant research programs at Sherbrooke, including the Center of Excellence in Diabetes, Obesity and Cardiovascular Complications. His work is recognized by various awards, including Young Investigator Awards and New Investigator Awards. Additionally, he holds a Canada Research Chair and has secured numerous research grants for his studies on macrophage activation and diabetic vascular complications.
