Biography

Pedro Mendes Loureiro is an Associate Professor of Latin American Studies at the Centre of Latin American Studies, University of Cambridge. His research primarily focuses on political economy, emphasizing the intersection of inequality and development strategies in Latin America. He leads a collaborative project investigating mass incarceration in Brazil, particularly examining the surge in prison populations from 90,000 to 900,000 in 30 years and the socio-economic factors contributing to this crisis.
