Pedro studied medicine in Lisbon and Paris before moving to Oxford for postgraduate training. He completed a master's in Clinical Embryology with distinction at the University of Oxford, followed by a PhD in Reproductive Medicine under Arri Coomarasamy at the University of Birmingham. Pedro returned to Oxford in 2022 to complete subspecialty training in reproductive medicine alongside an NIHR academic clinical lectureship in obstetrics and gynaecology, collaborating with Granne, Becker, and Williams groups at the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health. By 2025, Pedro was appointed Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Women's Reproductive Health and Honorary Consultant Gynaecologist & Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine. His clinical practice at Oxford University Hospitals covers infertility, early pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage, and fertility preservation in endometriosis, alongside assisting conception at TFP Oxford Fertility. His research focuses on evidence synthesis from clinical studies in infertility and miscarriage, serving as the national clinical coordinator for the NIHR-funded LOCI trial comparing letrozole with clomifene and metformin for anovulatory infertility in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. He is also the chief investigator of the OxLuPIn study investigating the effects of luteal dysfunction on placental maladaptation in preeclampsia. Additionally, Pedro serves as a teaching associate in Women’s Reproductive Health at Green Templeton College, Oxford.
