Peggy Bustamante is an associate professor of professional practice at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. A longtime journalist and web developer, she joined the USC Annenberg faculty in 2014. Bustamante teaches creative professionals the fundamentals of coding, empowering them to push the boundaries of innovative storytelling in the digital sphere. With nearly a decade of experience as the lead web applications developer at Harvard University’s News Office, she transitioned from print journalism to digital platforms in the mid-1990s and has been learning code since as part of her multimedia online work. Bustamante holds a master’s degree in information technology/computer science and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Harvard University. Additionally, she served as the associate dean for diversity, inclusion, and access from 2017 to 2020, overseeing significant improvements to Annenberg’s Diversity Plan.
