Biography

Peifeng Li joined the University of Glasgow in early 2017 as a Senior Lecturer in Materials Manufacturing. Before this, he was an Assistant Professor at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore from 2010 to 2017. He also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Solid Mechanics Materials Engineering Group at the University of Oxford from 2007 to 2010. Dr. Li earned his PhD in Materials Science from Imperial College London in 2006, and holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering (1999) and an MEng in Materials Processing Engineering (2001) from Tsinghua University. His research primarily focuses on the process-structure-mechanical property relationship in lightweight materials, with recent emphasis on additive manufacturing (3D printing) of metals. His main strategy is to exploit the advantages of combined advanced experimental characterization and material modeling techniques over various length and time scales, targeting applications in light alloys (such as Titanium and Aluminum), additive manufactured metals, metal foams, polymeric foams, fiber-reinforced polymeric laminates, and ceramics for automotive, aerospace, defense, and biomedical sectors.
