Biography

Peizhong Peter Wang is a professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. He earned his PhD in Epidemiology from the same institution after graduating from Tianjin Medical University in China. With extensive research experience and a broad interest in areas such as cancer epidemiology, arthritis disability, immigrant health, quality of life, aging, health surveys, and epidemiological modeling, Dr. Wang has made significant contributions to the field. He has received numerous recognitions, including the Arthritis Society CIHR Joint Fellowship Award and the distinguished visiting professor award from the Tianjin Government, along with the Science Chinese National Technology Achievement Award. As a lead investigator and co-investigator, he has secured over 30 research grants funded by provincial, national, and international agencies. Dr. Wang has published more than 80 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, with a recent focus on the epidemiology of colorectal cancer, which has gained international recognition. Besides his primary position, he holds additional academic appointments and is dedicated to teaching and training future public health researchers and practitioners. He instructs undergraduate and graduate courses at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Tianjin Medical University and has served as thesis supervisor or committee member for over 30 MSc and PhD students in Canada and China.
