Biography

Peng Liu is a full professor in real estate finance at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and has held the position of Singapore Tourism Board Distinguished Chair Professor of Asian Hospitality Management since 2016. He became the inaugural faculty member of the Paul Rubacha Department of Real Estate in 2023. Liu is an active researcher and serves as the editor for the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, the official journal of the American Real Estate Society. His research examines the interaction between financial markets and the real economy, with broad interests in asset valuations, commercial real estate, and commodities. Liu also delves into hospitality management, securitization, and market analyses for various industries, such as retail and airlines. Alongside his academic work, he possesses extensive industry experience from his time at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York City and as a senior consultant at Deloitte Consulting in Beijing. He has also earned recognition for his expertise in securitization, especially within the Chinese market, and currently advises multiple esteemed organizations, including the Shenzhen Security Exchange. Liu holds a PhD with a co-major in finance and real estate from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, along with a master's degree in financial economics from Peking University and a bachelor's degree in engineering from Tsinghua University.
