Peng Liu is a lecturer and SNSF Ambizione Fellow leading an independent research group in the Polymer Chemistry Group at ETH Zürich since 2024. He received his B.S. in Applied Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Technology in 2012 and subsequently pursued an M.Sc. jointly with the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry focused on the asymmetric synthesis of fluorinated amino acids. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Fribourg under the guidance of Prof. Andreas Kilbinger, concentrating on ring-opening metathesis polymerization from 2016 to 2020. Liu further developed his expertise through postdoctoral research at the Adolphe Merkle Institute with Professors Nico Bruns, Michael Mayer, and Christoph Weder, as part of the NCCR Bio-Inspired Materials initiative, and at the California Institute of Technology under Prof. Maxwell J. Robb as an SNSF Early Postdoc.Mobility fellow from 2021 to 2023. His current research focuses on developing sustainable polymer materials with an emphasis on designing and synthesizing new recyclable and degradable polymers through mechanochemical recycling of commercial plastics. Liu aims to enable the creation of next-generation polymer solutions for a sustainable future.
The GRE is mandatory for students who did not obtain their Bachelor's degree in an EU/EFTA state. Some departments (e.g., Computer Science) have specific ECTS credit requirements in core subjects.
