Biography

Dr. Peng received his BASc and MASc degrees in Materials Science Engineering from China University of Geosciences in Beijing in 2007 and 2010, respectively, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Nanotechnology from the University of Waterloo in 2014. From 2014 to 2015, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Advanced Materials Joining at the University of Waterloo. He then took an associate professor position in the Mechanical Engineering department at Beihang University, China, before returning to the MME department at the University of Waterloo in 2021. Dr. Peng's research interests span materials science and processing technologies with applications in micro/nano electronics, medical aerospace, specializing in micro/nano-joining, laser processing, and brazing. His work encompasses the development of flexible wearable electronics, nano-joining devices and sensors, and medical brazing techniques, alongside advanced materials properties and metallurgy.
