Dr. Penny Lewis

Biography

Penny Lewis is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice at the University of Manchester, with significant expertise in medication safety research and the effective delivery of pharmacy services to improve patient care. She also serves as an Academic Lead Pharmacist for Research at the Manchester University Foundation Trust. Penny is committed to promoting research engagement among healthcare professionals and clinical pharmacists, holding the position of Academic Career Development Lead for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester. Her research focuses on collaborative medication safety initiatives and improving communication between general practice and community pharmacies. She has led projects investigating the prevalence of prescribing errors among foundation year doctors and has been actively involved in teaching at various levels of the MPharm program. Penny is dedicated to enhancing research inclusion and diversity in pharmacy practice. Her educational qualifications include a PhD in Pharmacy Practice from the University of Manchester and an MPharm from Aston University, Birmingham. Additionally, she received a Commended Award for her work in social responsibility with the Greater Manchester Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Collaborative, focusing on patient safety priorities and community pharmacy improvements.
