Biography

Professor Penny Rapaport specializes in psychological interventions for dementia and mental health in older populations. She is a Principal Research Fellow at University College London and an Honorary Clinical Psychologist with North London Foundation NHS Trust. Her research focuses on the development, testing, and implementation of dementia care support interventions, particularly emphasizing widening access to underserved populations. She completed her PhD at the Division of Psychiatry at UCL in 2018, concentrating on developing non-pharmacological interventions for people living with dementia who experience agitation in care homes. In 2021, she was awarded the NIHR Advanced Fellowship for her work as a Pathway Clinical Research Fellow in Inclusion Health, focusing on healthcare for homeless people. In addition, Rapaport has extensive clinical experience, having worked with older people in various NHS services and as a consultant to organizations improving clinical psychology services. She co-leads the UCL Division of Psychiatry mentoring scheme and is actively involved in advisory activities, career guidance, and training.
