Biography

Strömberg studies venture capital, entrepreneurial finance, costs of bankruptcy, financial distress, corporate finance, and governance. He is the SSE Centennial Professor of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics and a research affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), as well as a research fellow at the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). Strömberg is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is also a member of the prize committee for the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. His research has been recognized with multiple awards including the Brattle Group Prizes in 2001, 2009, and 2014 for corporate finance papers, the NASDAQ award in 2004, and the Researcher of the Year award from the Stockholm School of Economics in 2006. Besides his academic contributions, Dr. Strömberg is a board member of the Sixth AP Fund, a public pension fund focused on private equity investments. He earned his MBA in finance from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1991, followed by a master's degree in industrial administration in 1993 and a PhD in finance in 1997 from Carnegie Mellon University.
