Dr. Pernilla Broberg

Biography

Pernilla Broberg is a Senior Associate Professor and Head of the Division at Linköping University. Her research primarily focuses on the audit profession, understanding audit quality, and developing learning opportunities for students in this field, which is essential for the future guardians of the markets. In her role, she serves as a Senior Lecturer in Business Administration, teaching subjects such as auditing and accounting methods while supervising theses related to these areas. Broberg’s advanced course on Accounting and Auditing theory and practice delves into the practical role of auditors and the regulations that influence their work, fostering discussions about the central dilemmas and responsibilities within the audit profession. Her doctoral thesis, "The Auditor Work – Study of Auditor Practice in Big 4 Audit Firms (2013)," examined the day-to-day procedures of auditors. She actively participates in research that addresses time budget pressures and stress among auditors, focusing on its impact on audit quality. Concurrently, she is interested in pedagogical questions relating to the education of future auditors and accountants, contributing to course development and research projects. Broberg is also involved with the Swedish Audit Academy and serves on the editorial board of the journal Organization & Society and the advisory board of the Baltic Journal Management.
