Professor Dr. Pernille Tønnesen

Biography

Pernille Thusbøll Tønnesen is a Postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University, specializing in the biology of toothed whales. Her research primarily focuses on the use of multisensor biologging tags to better understand deep diving behaviors and echolocation mechanisms in these animals. She is a key figure in Project CETI, which aims to advance the understanding of communication signals among sperm whales, particularly in contexts related to foraging and social interactions. Through her work, Tønnesen contributes significant insights into bioacoustics and dive research, collaborating with various international partners to disseminate findings and enhance the scientific community's grasp of these complex behaviors.
