Dr. Perry Elliott

Biography

Perry Elliott is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at University College London and the director of the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science. He is also a consultant cardiologist at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London. He has chaired the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Heart Academy and served as the past chair of the ESC Council on Cardiovascular Genomics. His extensive research contributions include gene identification, the development and application of risk prediction tools, biomarker discovery, and conducting clinical trials for rare diseases. He is recognized as a global authority on heart muscle disease, with his work providing significant benefits to patients through accurate risk prediction, effective family screening, and prevention of sudden cardiac death. He has coordinated numerous global consortia that have informed disease classifications and European practice guidelines related to genetic testing and rare cardiovascular diseases.
