Biography

Petar Kormushev is an Associate Professor at the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London and the founder director of the Robot Intelligence Lab. He holds a PhD in Computational Intelligence from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, an MSc in Biomedical Informatics, and a BSc in Computer Science. Dr. Kormushev's research focuses on machine learning and robot learning algorithms, particularly reinforcement learning and intelligent robot behavior. His long-term goal is to create autonomous robots capable of learning and adapting in dynamic environments. He participated in the DARPA Robotics Challenge finals in 2015 with the WALK-MAN robot and has worked on several notable European projects related to robotics and machine learning. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has also served as a technical coordinator for FP7 projects and co-chaired the IEEE RAS Technical Committee on Robot Learning. He has received several prestigious awards, including the John Atanasoff Award in 2013 from the President of Bulgaria.
