Biography

Dr. Peter Worsley is a Professor of Assistive Technology and Tissue Health within the Health Sciences department at the University of Southampton. With a balanced academic portfolio, he co-leads the Skin Health research group at the Clinical Academic Facility and serves as the deputy programme lead for the BSc and MSc Physiotherapy programmes, which were ranked as the top programmes in the UK according to the Complete University Guide in 2018. His research interests focus on the translation of bioengineering approaches into healthcare technologies to promote skin and soft tissue health. His work incorporates both in-vivo studies with healthy volunteers and patients as well as in-silico research, supported by funding from UKRI, NIHR, EU, and various industry partners. Worsley actively collaborates with academic colleagues, international researchers, and industry stakeholders, contributing to advancements in medical device design and innovative technologies for prosthetics and orthotics. He is also involved in the regional research strategy as a local leader for the South Central Hub Council Allied Health Professionals Research (CAHPR). Notably, he has gained recognition in his field, holding positions such as scientific chair for EPUAP and editorial board member for journals such as the Journal of Tissue Viability and Clinical Biomechanics.
