Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Peter Leon Hagedoorn. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Peter-Leon Hagedoorn is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Delft University of Technology. He is an expert in the mechanistic investigation of metalloenzymes such as ferritin and chlorite dismutase. He pioneered a new approach in metalloproteomics known as MIRAGE. His research focuses on the kinetic characterization of enzymes with complex substrates and the advanced use of enzyme calorimetry based on chip devices. He has a special interest in microsecond timescale rapid mixing techniques and has employed unique instruments such as the continuous flow UV-vis spectrophotometric device called Nanospec and rapid freeze hyperquench device called MHQ, which are significantly faster than commercial instruments. In recent years, he has collaborated with Professor Hanefeld in enzyme immobilization for flow biocatalysis, exploring manganese-dependent aldolases and thermophilic glycosyl transferases. Hagedoorn has published over 110 peer-reviewed papers with a clear focus on elucidating the reaction mechanisms of (metallo-)enzymes and metalloproteomics. He is a member of the editorial board of Analytical Biochemistry and has served on the board of the Netherlands Biotechnology Society (NBV). He was involved in organizing the Netherlands Biotechnology Conference and has been named secretary of the Biocatalysis division of the European Federation of Biotechnology.
