Biography

Peter Aeschbacher holds a joint appointment in the Department of Landscape Architecture and the Department of Architecture and is affiliated with the Hamer Center for Community Design. He is a trained architect and urban planner with extensive national and international experience in design and community development. Aeschbacher has worked with arts-based non-profit organizations and has undertaken numerous community revitalization and affordable housing projects, advocating for social and environmental justice issues. His collaboration with underserved communities includes projects that involve at-risk youth in Los Angeles, such as designing and constructing community gardens and local parks and conducting environmental education initiatives. He was a Frederick P. Rose Architectural Fellow from 2000 to 2003 at the Los Angeles Community Design Center and is a founding member of CityWorksLA, serving on its board of directors. Aeschbacher has a broad teaching portfolio that includes various architectural and design courses focusing on urban design and community engagement.
