Professor Dr. Peter Balling

Biography

Peter Balling is a professor at Aarhus University specializing in experimental atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics, with a common broad theme of light-matter interaction. His research focuses on the interaction of ultrashort laser pulses with matter, combining advanced time-resolved experiments with detailed modeling of material dynamics. He has made significant contributions to medical physics, specifically in three-dimensional radiation dosimetry using optical methods. He actively collaborates with researchers in related fields such as chemistry and nanotechnology, and he engages in collaboration with industrial partners both in Denmark and abroad. In addition to his research, he contributes to teaching a wide range of courses at the bachelor's and master's levels, emphasizing active student engagement.
