Biography

Peter Beerel received his B.S.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University in 1989, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1991 and 1994, respectively. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering-Systems at the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering in 1994 and is currently a Full Professor and Associate Chair of the Computer Engineering Division. As Research Director at USC's Information Sciences Institute, he contributed to several areas, including CAD, VLSI, and Machine Learning. Beerel co-founded TimeLess Design Automation in 2008 and has a history of academic excellence, receiving multiple awards such as the VSoE Outstanding Teaching Award and the IEEE Region 6 Outstanding Engineer Award. His current research focuses on energy-efficient and sustainable computing, hardware security, and machine-learning algorithm hardware co-design.
