Dr. Peter Calabrese

Biography

Peter Calabrese received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Cornell University with Rick Durrett as his thesis advisor. After completing his Ph.D., he was a National Science Foundation mathematics post-doctoral fellow at the University of Southern California, where he was sponsored by Simon Tavaré. His research focuses on computational biology, and he has collaborated with numerous molecular biology laboratories at USC. His extensive work in this field includes topics such as computational biology, germline selection, mutation mechanisms, recombination hot spots, and population genetics. He is well-versed in approximate Bayesian computation, which is pivotal in his research endeavors.
