Biography

Peter Carfagna is a Lecturer at Harvard Law School, where he has taught Sports Law courses for many years. He has a distinguished career in sports marketing and management, having served as Chairman and CEO of Magis, LLC, a private sports marketing company. Earlier, he was the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at International Management Group (IMG) and a Senior Partner at Jones Day LLP, providing legal counsel to several professional sports teams including the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers. Carfagna graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College and received a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with an M.A. in Jurisprudence. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude. Carfagna has published several books on sports law and serves as a faculty advisor to Harvard Law School’s Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. He is also involved in clinical programs offering practical legal experience to students in collaboration with major sports leagues and organizations.
