Dr. Peter Chin

Biography

Peter Chin is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Boston University. He directs the LISP (Learning, Intelligence + Signal Processing) group, combining expertise in various fields such as signal processing, computer science, and applied mathematics. Peter has previously held positions as a Research Professor at Boston University and as the Chief Scientist at Systems & Technology Research. His prior experience also includes being the Chief Scientist for Decision Systems at Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and as a co-director of the Digital Signal Processing group in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, he served as Chief Scientist in the Cyber Technology Branch at JHU/APL. His research interests are multifaceted, focusing on differential geometric methods to understand Einstein's field equations, geometric topological methods for learning from information, and developing sparse deep networks to extract insights from large datasets. Peter has contributed significantly to the field and has held visiting positions at esteemed institutions including the London Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Tufts University, Harvard University, and MIT.
