Biography

Peter Christensen is a consultant colorectal surgeon and professor specializing in pelvic floor surgery at Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. He has led the development of a multidisciplinary pelvic floor unit and worked with the Danish Cancer Society's National Research Centre focusing on late adverse effects of cancer treatment on pelvic organs. His research encompasses a broad spectrum of topics related to organ rehabilitation following cancer therapy and the development of patient-reported outcome measures for bowel dysfunction surgery. He has a dedicated interest in minimally invasive treatment modalities for functional bowel dysfunction and rectal prolapse surgery. He is an active member of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), participating in various committees, including Programme, Communication, and Global Reach. Recently, he was appointed as an Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons.
