Dr. Peter Conti Brown

Biography

Peter Conti-Brown is an Associate Professor of Financial Regulation and Legal Studies & Business Ethics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a financial historian and legal scholar with a particular focus on central banking and financial regulation. His research explores the history and policies of the U.S. Federal Reserve System. He is the author of the book "Power and Independence: The Federal Reserve" published by Princeton University Press in 2016. Conti-Brown has edited several books and co-authored numerous articles in the fields of central banking and financial regulation, emphasizing areas such as bank corporate governance. He received his law degree from Stanford Law School and a Ph.D. in history from Princeton University. Currently, he is working on books that delve into the history of bank supervision in the United States, particularly during the Civil War, as well as the political and institutional history of the U.S. Federal Reserve in the context of recent events, including the Trump administration.
