Biography

Peter Darlington is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Applied Physiology as well as Biology at Concordia University. He completed his Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biochemistry and Chemistry at the University of Western Ontario and earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the same institution. Following his education, he contributed to the field as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate at the Montreal Neurological Institute at McGill University. Darlington's research primarily focuses on immunology, particularly how the immune system interacts with the rest of the body and the effects of autonomic drugs on T cell function. His work aims to answer fundamental questions regarding autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, by utilizing key methods including isolation of human white blood cells, sterile cell culture, and various types of cellular analysis. He actively engages students from multiple disciplines in his research lab and aims to inspire them through innovative teaching methods that blend traditional and new information.
