Peter H.N. de received his PhD from Delft University of Technology in 1992. From 1984 to 1997, he worked at Philips Research in Eindhoven as a senior TV Systems Architect focused on video compression and programmable TV architectures. He served as a full professor at the University of Mannheim, Germany, in Computer Engineering until 2000. Following this, he held a position as a principal consultant with LogicaCMG in Eindhoven. He had notable roles as Vice President of Video Analysis at Cyclomedia Technology from 2008 to 2010, and in 2011, he was appointed as a full professor at TU/e with a focus on the Care and Cure Technologies theme. Peter is an international expert in video analysis for healthcare and safety applications, contributing to several EU projects in video analysis and object behavior recognition. He is a Fellow of the IEEE since 2007 and became a Life Fellow in 2023, and has (co-)authored approximately 700 papers in the fields of video coding and analysis. Over the past 20 years, his work has been pivotal in advancing innovations in computer vision and machine learning within societal sectors such as health and surveillance.
