Biography

Dr. Peter Fitzgerald is a Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, specializing in Cardiovascular Medicine. He is the Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Technology and the Cardiovascular Core Analysis Laboratory (CCAL). With a PhD in Engineering, he leads a laboratory that includes 17 postdoctoral fellows and graduate engineering students focused on state-of-the-art technologies in Cardiovascular Medicine. He has participated in 175 clinical trials and has published over 550 manuscripts and chapters, giving lectures worldwide. Over the past decade, he has trained 150 post-docs in Engineering and Medicine, and heads the Stanford/Asia MedTech innovation program. Dr. Fitzgerald is a principle and founder of twenty-one medical device companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and has transitioned fourteen start-ups to large medical device companies. He serves on boards of directors and has advised numerous medical device startups and multinational healthcare companies in the design and development of new diagnostic and therapeutic devices in the cardiovascular arena. In 2001, he was a founding team member of LVP Capital, a venture firm focused on medical device and biotechnology start-ups, and in 2009, he co-founded TriVentures, an incubator and venture fund for early-stage medical technology in Israel.
