Biography

Peter Franck is an Associate Professor at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University. He received his PhD in Music Theory from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in 2007, an MA in Music Theory from McGill University in 2001, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory (Honours) from McGill University in 1995. Additionally, he completed a diploma in Jazz Guitar Performance at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton, Alberta. His research focuses on invertible counterpoint and its intersections with various aspects of Schenkerian theory and musical form. He has presented papers at various conferences, including the Canadian University Music Society and the Society for Music Theory. His research interests encompass Schenkerian Theory, Contrapuntal Theory, Invertible Counterpoint, Jazz Theory, Compositional Theory, and Musical Form, particularly in relation to the works of J. S. Bach.
