Biography

Peter Frazier received a B.S. in Physics Engineering/Applied Science from the California Institute of Technology in 2000. He spent years in the industry as a software engineer, working for start-up companies including Teradata at NCR. In 2005, he entered graduate school in the Department of Operations Research & Financial Engineering at Princeton University, earning an M.A. in 2007 and a Ph.D. in 2009. He joined the faculty at Cornell University in 2009, initially as an Assistant Professor in the School of Operations Research & Information Engineering and later became an Associate Professor. His research interests include sequential decision-making under uncertainty, optimal methods for collecting information, and machine learning, with applications in simulation, e-commerce, and biology. He has received the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation and the Young Investigator Award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. He has also worked at Uber as a Staff Data Scientist and Data Science Manager, leading a team focused on pricing data science efforts. Frazier teaches courses in simulation and statistics, including multiple courses related to information systems and optimal learning.
