Biography

Peter Gallant is an assistant professor at the Smith School of Business, where he teaches courses in entrepreneurship and new venture financing strategy. He has a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering, earning his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. from Queen's University. His research interests include artificial neural networks and evolutionary algorithms, particularly in the context of time-series modeling and prediction. Peter has extensive industry experience, having been the Vice President of Business Development at Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies after leading the formation of Pathogen Detection Systems. He served as President and CEO of WaterTAP, the innovation acceleration organization of Ontario’s water sector. With over 15 years of teaching at the university level, he focuses on developing innovative curricula that enhance student engagement and practical skills. He has a record of strong teaching evaluations and involvement in various governance roles at Queen's University, as well as contributions to the entrepreneurial community.
