Biography

Peter Griffin is an expert in microfabrication and has co-authored widely used textbooks in this area. He co-authored a new version titled 'Integrated Circuit Fabrication – Science Technology' with Prof. Jim Plummer, which is set to be published by Cambridge University Press in early 2024. He trained as an electrical engineer at University College Cork, Ireland, and earned his PhD from Stanford University. He has remained a research scientist at Stanford for several decades, performing interdisciplinary work at the Stanford Genome Technology Center (SGTC) with a particular emphasis on digital microfluidics. His technology contributions are aimed at bioengineering, where he has been the lead author on significant grants from DARPA, NIH, and SRC. Griffin has enjoyed long-term collaborations with leading researchers on interdisciplinary grants, which have made his time at Stanford highly productive. Currently, his interests include impedance measurements for diagnostics in the laboratory of Prof. Lars Steinmetz at SGTC.
