Biography

Peter Hilbers is a full professor in BioModeling and BioInformatics at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), where he leads the Computational Biology research group within the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His primary research interests include large scale computer simulations, computational modeling in biomedical engineering, systems biology, molecular systems, catalysis, and polymer chemistry. Hilbers completed his studies in Mathematics at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and earned his Ph.D. in 1989 with research on 'Mapping algorithms for processor networks'. He has a significant background in industry, having worked at Shell Research Laboratories in Amsterdam from 1989 to 1996, before joining TU/e. In 1993, he was appointed part-time Professor of Large Scale Computing Applications and became a full professor in 1996. Hilbers has also played a key role in educational programs, collaborating with the Sino-Dutch Biomedical & Information Engineering School at Northeastern University in Shenyang, China. In October 2007, he assumed the role of dean of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at TU/e, contributing to the academic and administrative leadership of the department.
