Dr. Peter Hill

Biography

Peter Michael Hill serves as the Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Johns Hopkins Health System and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was appointed to these positions in March 2017. Dr. Hill closely collaborates with vice presidents, clinical directors, and medical staff to enhance the quality of healthcare. He actively participates in improving peer review, professionalism, and high-value healthcare practices. In his role at Johns Hopkins Hospital, he leads various medical staff functions, serves as the chief medical officer, and oversees programs related to medical administration and patient safety. Dr. Hill earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, a master's degree from Brown University, and his medical degree from the University of Maryland. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he also served as chief resident. Following his residency, he held several leadership roles, including Medical Director of the Emergency Acute Care Unit and Clinical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine. He has a strong focus on reducing hospital readmissions and improving emergency department operations, particularly in managing acute conditions like asthma and heart failure. He has led projects on the utility of novel devices for detecting cardiac ischemia and was a co-primary investigator in a trial for a magnetocardiography device.
