Biography

Peter Hirst is the Senior Associate Dean of Executive Education at MIT Sloan School of Management, where he leads a team of professionals to partner with clients and faculty to design, develop, and deliver innovative, impactful executive education programs for individuals and companies. With over thirty years of experience in international strategy, technology consulting, and organizational leadership development, Peter's past roles include CEO of a commercialization consulting and executive education business at the London School of Economics, and Senior Science and Technology Policy Officer as a Westminster Fellow at the UK’s Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology. He has advised Members of Parliament and Peers on policy issues related to physical sciences and defense. Peter has served on various boards and advisory roles, including as chair of Unicon and founding director of the Internet of Things Talent Consortium. He is also active in philanthropic efforts and has been involved with organizations focused on economic development in Africa and higher education. Peter earned his Bachelor's Degree with Joint Honors in Physics and Electronics in 1989 and a PhD in Physics in 1992 from the University of St. Andrews. In 2012, he was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his services to British-American business and academia.
