Biography

Peter Huthwaite completed his PhD in early 2012 at Imperial College London, focusing on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) within the tomography medicine group. After finishing his doctorate, he remained in the group as a post-doctoral Research Fellow and transitioned to a Lectureship in 2016. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Lecturer and Reader in 2021. Huthwaite has successfully secured substantial funding, including a five-year £1 million EPSRC Early Career Fellowship for a project titled 'Quantitative Non-Destructive Imaging with Limited Data,' which ran from 2015 to 2020 in collaboration with Bristol University. His research primarily revolves around ultrasonic imaging and inversion techniques, with applications in NDT and medicine, as well as subsea environments. He has developed numerical methods for simulating ultrasound and created the Pogo software package for high-speed simulation. In addition to his research endeavors, he teaches mechanics and machine learning to undergraduate students, along with a specialized radiography course for PhD candidates.
