Professor Dr. Peter Ingwersen

Biography

Peter Emil Rerup Ingwersen is an Adjunct Professor at Aalborg University. He graduated as a Librarian from the Royal School of Library and Information Science (RSLIS) in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1973 and obtained his Ph.D. from Copenhagen Business School in 1991. From 1981 to 1984, he worked with the Online Service staff at the European Space Agency in Frascati, Italy, as an ESA Research Fellow. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Head of the M.Sc. program in Library and Information Science at RSLIS, where he also became the Head of the Department of Information Retrieval Theory. He was a senior researcher at the Centre for Informetric Studies from 1996 to 2000 and became a full professor in Information Science in 2006. He has visited multiple universities worldwide, including Rutgers University in the USA and Keio University in Japan, and has served as a Professor II at Oslo University College in Norway. Ingwersen has received numerous accolades for his contributions to information science, including the ASIS&T Award of Merit in 2016 and multiple honorary doctorates. His research interests encompass information behavior research, scientometrics, and scientific communication, among others.
