Biography

Peter Jackson is the Chair in Global Security at the University of Glasgow. He obtained his PhD in History from the University of Cambridge in 1995 and subsequently took a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University. In 1998, he was appointed as a lecturer in International History and Intelligence Studies at Aberystwyth University. From 2004 to 2015, he served as the editor of 'Intelligence and National Security', which is recognized as the world's leading journal on intelligence and security issues. He left Aberystwyth to join the History Department at the University of Strathclyde in 2011 and took on his current role at the University of Glasgow in 2013. Jackson is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Royal Historical Society. He has held visiting professorships at the 'Sciences po' History Department during the 2012-2013 academic year and at Université de Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2017-2018. He has led significant research projects, including an AHRC-funded Research Network on 'The Practice of International History in the Twenty-First Century' and currently serves as Principal Investigator on a major AHRC Research Grant concerning Franco-British relations.
