Dr. Peter Klein

Biography

Peter Klein is a Professor of Finance at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Toronto in 1996. Before joining academia, Peter spent 10 years in various roles at CIBC/Wood Gundy, including Chief Trader of Derivatives in London, UK, and Vice-President of Investment Banking in Tokyo. At SFU, he has taught courses such as International Finance and Derivatives Investment Policy, receiving the TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching Award in 1998. He is the founding Academic Director of the Global Asset and Wealth Management MBA and the Master of Financial Risk Management programs, and has been involved in establishing the Student Investment Advisory Service and the Beedie Endowment Asset Management. His research focuses on return anomalies, taxation, credit risk, derivative securities, and corporate governance, with publications in leading journals including the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Public Economics. Peter holds several professional designations, including CFA, CBV, and CPA. In addition to his academic work, he is the Managing Partner and CIO of BullWealth, an investment counseling firm that specializes in Canadian hedge funds. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, backpacking, and spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors.

Experience
