Biography

Peter J. Koltai is a Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University Medical Center. He has been a member of the Stanford University School of Medicine faculty since 2004. Dr. Koltai was born in Hungary and completed his education in New York City, graduating from Albany Medical College in 1975. He went on to complete his otolaryngology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1980 and a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in 1989. Before coming to Stanford, he served as Professor and Chief of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Division at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Koltai's academic and clinical interests focus on innovative surgical solutions for complex pediatric issues, including advancements in tracheostomy and airway dilation techniques. He has pioneered new methods for managing pediatric sleep apnea and has been involved in initiatives to prevent button battery ingestion in young children. Additionally, he is a Senior Fellow at Stanford's Center for Innovation in Global Health, collaborating with the University of Zimbabwe to establish a Pediatric Otolaryngology clinic in Harare.
