Peter Kraus is an Assistant Professor in Physics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, leading the High-Harmonic Generation & EUV Science group at ARCNL. His research focuses on high-harmonic generation (HHG) phenomena in different media, including gases, solids, and semiconductor nanostructures. The group studies and develops coherent EUV and soft-X-ray sources, applying femtosecond and attosecond time and nanometer spatial resolution spectroscopy and imaging. Additionally, they explore potential deactivation of high-harmonics for super-resolution microscopy. Recent experiments have demonstrated the manipulation of optical emission in solids solely by light, which opens horizons for high-resolution imaging applications. The group actively collaborates with other research groups and institutions across Europe, including the Max Born Institute in Germany and Aarhus University in Denmark. Peter's work not only enhances the understanding of the HHG process but also broadens its potential applications in various fields, including imaging and metrology with nanometer resolution.
