Dr. Peter Kuch

Biography

Peter Kuch is an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales, Australia, specializing in Irish and Australian modernism from 1880 to 1930. With a background in Honors degree from the University of Wales and a D.Phil from Oxford, he has had a distinguished academic career. He has previously served as an Emeritus Professor at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and held the inaugural Eamon Cleary Professorship in Irish Studies. Over his career, he has held positions at various institutions including the University of Newcastle, Australia, and Université de Caen, France. Kuch is known for his extensive research and publications on topics related to Yeats, Joyce, and the interplay between Irish and Australian literature and theatre. His current work includes a cultural history of performance in Irish theatre, focusing on the connection between New Zealand and Australia during the years 1789–1920. Kuch has presented his research in over 30 countries and has published more than 60 refereed articles and book chapters. He also serves as a commissioning editor for the Irish Studies Review and is on the editorial board of several academic journals.
