Biography

Peter Lakatos is a Professor of Medicine and the Director of the IBD Centre at McGill University, affiliated with the McGill University Health Center. He previously served as the head of the gastroenterology/hepatology ward and outpatient clinic at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. Lakatos is a founding leader of the Hungarian IBD Study Group and serves as the President Elect of the Colon Section. He is also a member of the educational committee for the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation and the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. His prolific career includes over 280 original papers and 26 book chapters, and he has contributed significantly to leading international journals in gastroenterology and hepatology. His primary research interests focus on epidemiology, outcome biomarkers, and the prediction of disease progression and response to medical therapy in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Lakatos is involved in quality improvement initiatives and current research includes the development of care pathways and quality indicators, as well as complex prediction modeling related to disease course and treatment outcomes.
