Biography

Peter Lanjouw is a Professor of Development Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and has over a decade of experience in the Development Economics Research Group at the World Bank, where he managed the Poverty and Inequality team. He has taught at various institutions, including the Delhi School of Economics and the University of California, Berkeley. Lanjouw is currently the editor of the World Bank Research Observer and has previously served as an assistant editor for the World Bank Economic Review. His main research interests focus on poverty measurement and analysis, structural transformation in developing economies, and the longitudinal studies' contributions to rural development analysis. Lanjouw has also been involved with the Global Poverty Commission at the World Bank and has worked on several projects aimed at increasing food security in Southeast Asia.
