Biography

Dr. Lapner is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Ottawa and has been an active staff member at The Ottawa Hospital since 2003. He completed his medical training at the University of Toronto, the University of Ottawa, and the University of British Columbia, and participated in visiting fellowships at Nice University and the University of Zurich. As a Clinician Investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, Dr. Lapner has undertaken roles at local, provincial, and national levels within the Canadian Orthopedic Association, and has served as the Past President of the Canadian Shoulder Elbow Society. Over the past decade, he has chaired the National Residents’ Shoulder Elbow course. His research interests include clinical outcomes in shoulder arthritis, arthroplasty, instability, rotator cuff surgery, and the acromio-clavicular joint, alongside pursuits in basic science research and continuous quality improvement in orthopaedic practice.
