Dr. Peter Lasalle

Biography

Peter LaSalle is a Regents Professor in Creative Writing at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his B.A. from Harvard University in 1969 and his M.A. from the University of Chicago in 1972. LaSalle has an extensive background in creative writing, focusing on fiction and poetry, and has developed a significant body of work that includes novels, short stories, and travel writing. His notable publications include "World Book, Indeed" (2020), "Sleeping Mask" (2017), and "City P.M." (2015). Over the years, he has been recognized with numerous awards for his contributions to literature, such as the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction and the Richard Sullivan Prize in Fiction. LaSalle has also received a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship. His teaching includes courses in short story writing and advanced fiction at the university, where he engages students in various aspects of contemporary literature and creative processes.
