Biography

Peter Lian received his B.Sc degree from the College of Economics & Management at Shanghai JiaoTong University in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1994. After spending nine years in the industry, he joined NUS in 1996 as a Provost's Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has served various roles including Deputy Department Chair for Research and Area Director for IC Embedded Systems. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University. His research focuses on biomedical circuits and systems, as well as energy-efficient signal processing, and he has received multiple awards for his contributions, including the IEEE Guillemin-Cauer Award in 1996, Multimedia Communications Paper Award in 2008, and the IEEE Transactions Biomedical Circuits Systems Paper Award in 2023. Lian is also a Fellow of the IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Academy of Engineering Singapore, and he actively participates in IEEE leadership roles.
