Peter Lian received his B.Sc degree from the College of Economics & Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1994. After spending nine years in the industry, he joined NUS in 1996 as a Provost's Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has served as Deputy Department Chair for Research and has been an Area Director and member of various committees, including the University Tenure Promotion Committee and Senate Delegacy. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University. His research interests include biomedical circuits and systems, energy-efficient signal processing, and wearable/implantable wireless biomedical sensors. Dr. Lian has received several awards including the IEEE Guillemin-Cauer Award in 1996, the Multimedia Communications Paper Award in 2008, and the Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award in 2011 from the Institute of Engineers Singapore. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Academy of Engineering Singapore.
